Shibari Syllabus Announcement

Since opening Studio Kink, we have been working on and refining our Shibari teaching syllabus. After pouring in time, effort and experience gained from running hundreds of classes, we are excited to announce the latest: Studio Kink Shibari Syllabus.

At Studio Kink Shibari is taught at 6 different levels:

Level 1 - Introduction to Shibari - Weekly Tuesday Nights and/or Monthly Weekend Intensives

Level 2 - Shibari Fundamentals A - Weekly Thursday Nights and/or Monthly Weekend Intensives

Level 3 - Shibari Fundamentals B - Weekly Thursday Nights and/or Monthly Weekend Intensives

Level 4 - Intermediate Shibari - Weekly Wednesday Nights and/or Monthly Weekend Intensives

Level 5 - Shibari Suspensions - Special Weekend Intensives

Level 6 - Shibari Specialisations  - Special Weekend Intensives

Certification

With the introduction of the Shibari Levels system, we are also introducing optional certification. To progress to the next level of study you need to have completed previous levels. Optionally, after completing a level of study, students can be assessed by our instructors on the content. Upon successful completion of the assessment, students will be awarded a certificate. This certificate indicates that our instructors are confident, at the time of assessment, that the student is competent in the material covered. Along with the certificate, students will have their achievement listed next to their name (or preferred pseudonym) in the Students section of our website.

Shibari is a practical, evolving and hands on activity. Without ongoing practice and dedication, skills and knowledge can deteriorate. As such certificates are given a timeframe which is indicated on the certificate. Certificates are renewed at our instructor's discretion for active students.

A certificate indicates a thorough understanding of the content and high competency, it does not indicate an ability to teach (this requires a completely different skill set).

Safety, consent and ethics are of the utmost importance to Studio Kink. Therefore, in order to receive a certificate, students must also agree with and accept our Code of Consent and Ethics. This code of ethics can be found on our website. Students must have also demonstrated an attitude of pursuing safety and responsibility.

Senior Students and Assistant Instructors

After being successfully certified at level 5, students may be recognised as Senior Students. Senior Students may help Instructors run classes, as well as supervise and assist with supervised practice sessions. Senior Students are listed on the Students section of our website.

After being an active and dedicated Senior Student for an extended period of time, Senior Students may receive additional training. On completion, this  results in them being awarded the status of Assistant Instructor. This indicates our confidence in their ability to teach classes at Studio Kink. Assistant instructors will be listed in the Team section of our website.
